Aces
are indisputably invaluable assets to any team
- From soccer, to aviation - "ACES RULE THE SKY"
in an era when only the sky is the limit. The definition
of an ACE transcends all modern definitions of being good
enough. It defines a man as the best of his kind - that
everything he does, he strives to excel beyond all conventional
norms.
To
be constantly improving requires progressive thought.
"To stand still is to move backwards." ACES
are cultivated to succeed. Sharpening each other through
mind, body, and soul.
We,
the Brothers of Epsilon Iota Sigma, are nicknamed the
Aces because we strive to be the best at everything that
we partake in – whether it is in academics, service
to the community, social relations, work, or all other
aspects of life. We fervently and continuously immerse
ourselves in environments in which we can better ourselves
as individuals and as an organization.
We
are not about conforming to the majority; we are about
being the leading example for those who are around us.
We stand together to bring about change to the term “fraternity”
by developing a new culture of men who are actively pursuing
our goals and dreams by taking control of our lives.
We
are not the typical fraternity that aims to better only
one aspect of their lives. We are not a business fraternity.
We are not an ethnic fraternity. We are not a service
fraternity. We are not a social fraternity. We are an
Academic and Career-based Fraternity that aims to excel
in life. We are “Aces,” the best of the best.
Our
ideals mainly revolve around Brotherhood, Success, Excellence,
and Leadership.
Brotherhood:
We believe in surrounding ourselves with a close group
of guys who share similar goals and interests. The Brothers
in this Fraternity are passionate about learning and growing
from one another’s knowledge and experiences. We
are here together as an elite group of very ambitious,
determined, and respectable guys who strive to be the
best at everything that they do, and at the same time,
bringing up their fellow Brothers to that same level of
excellence.
Excellence:
We believe that it is absolutely crucial for our members
to strive to be the best because only the best survive
in this world. Only the best get the high paying and prestigious
careers that we all dream of. Only the best gain the full
respect of all those around them. Only the best survive.
We do not settle for mediocrity, nor do we settle for
the little comforts in life that are guaranteed to us.
We believe in constantly pushing beyond our own mental
and physical limits in order to achieve the greatest level
of excellence within everything that we encounter in our
lives.
Success:
Success is one of the many excellences that we all strive
for. We strive to succeed in life. We do not only strive
for success in one aspect of life. We strive to succeed
at everything that we put our minds to and any challenges
that might impede on our journey towards our desired goals
and dreams.
Leadership:
The Brothers of EiS are all leaders in one way or another.
We have Brothers lead in academics. We have Brothers who
lead in athletics. We have Brothers who lead in their
business professions. As an organization we have displayed
and honed our leadership skills through implementing campus
wide events such as the First Religious Fair and the first
Political Fair, both at UCR.

With
the desire to have a brotherhood built on determination,
respect, and geared toward academic and career success,
Allen Sun and Brian Chu envisioned a family that could be
there for one another, learn from one another, and through
unity – realize each individual’s true potential.
Being
college students themselves, they knew that college was
an essential and decisive period in a person’s life.
They felt that college was not only about academics, having
fun, or meeting people, but a complete balanced experience
that would lead the path toward a more knowledgeable and
successful future.
On
April 22, 2004, Epsilon Iota Sigma was founded by 9 unique
and talented young men at the University of California,
Riverside. Each brother brought with him diverse career
and life goals – business, science, religion, art,
politics, and music to name a few. The meaning of our fraternity
can be perceived in our letters: Epsilon, symbolizing the
Greek word Echô, refers to zealous, Idreia (Iota)
for knowledge, and Sumpsuchos (Sigma) for unity or “one-soul.”
The
history of Epsilon Iota Sigma continues to be built by the
brothers of now and the future, but let it be known –
our ideals, lifelong unity, and determination remain concrete.
We are here with one another, here for one another, and
we will make the best of our college experience –
together.
